Dr. Michelle Hoffman MD of Breathe Utah Speaks Out on Air Pollution at the UCAIR Press Conference Featuring Governor Gary Herbert
(EnviroNews Utah) — Salt Lake City — Dr. Michelle Hoffman, Pediatrician and founding member of the non-profit air quality activist group Breathe Utah, spoke without restraint today regarding the health dangers of “red air” day pollution at the Governors UCAIR press conference.
She challenged the crowd to see how long they could breath through a straw before it became uncomfortable in an attempt to drive home the point that “that’s what it feels like to have asthma”. Hoffman, who is also the Medical Director of the Children’s Unit at Riverton Hospital announced that over 240,000 Utahans currently carry the diagnosis of asthma, which is nearly 10% of the overall population.
This segment was taped January 31, 2012, at the UCAIR press conference featuring Governor Gary R. Herbert at the Questar refueling station in Salt Lake City, Utah.
